Living Against Your Core Values

Today, I want to talk about something that shifted everything for me — and might do the same for you.

Let’s talk about values.
Your values are your foundation. They are the core principles that guide your decisions, influence your choices, and shape your life. They are your moral compass, your source of strength, your inner GPS. And here’s the thing — they are different for all of us.

Your values are what’s deeply important to you. They’re what make you feel alive, energized, and aligned. They are you — in your truest form.
When you build your life around them, you become unshakeable. But when you live against them… you feel lost, stuck, and often miserable without even realizing why.

For the longest time, I was living against my core values — and I didn’t even realize it.
My values are adventure, freedom, integrity, meaningful work, and wealth. And let me tell you — when I was not honoring them, I felt frustrated and disconnected from my own life.

I craved adventure, yet I wasn’t doing anything to create it.
I was always daydreaming about traveling 3–4 times a year. I’d complain when I saw people effortlessly hopping on planes and exploring the world. I was so envious.

But I never stopped to ask myself why I wasn’t doing it. Instead of looking at how I was spending my money, I was busy resenting others for living their values while I ignored mine.

When I finally sat down and looked at my spending… wow.
I was investing in so many books, courses, masterclasses, and memberships — enough content to last me for three years, maybe more. I wasn’t even consuming most of it. I didn’t have the time or energy to absorb it all.

And guess what?
Had I redirected just a portion of that spending toward travel — the adventure and freedom I said I wanted — I could have taken at least two trips that year. Maybe more.

Let me give you another simple but eye-opening example of how I was living against my values without even realizing it.

It was time to buy a bed. Naturally being me, I went online and started looking for the cheapest option. I found one that looked nice, decent, and was within budget, and hit add to cart. A few days later, it was delivered and set up.

But I didn’t pause to ask myself something very important:
What do I want to do in this bed besides sleep?

Because here’s the truth — I love reading in bed. I love cozying up at night or in the early morning with a book, journaling, or listening to something inspiring. But this bed? It’s fine for sleeping… but not for sitting upright and reading. The headboard isn’t comfortable. There’s no support. So, I end up skipping the part that brings me peace and joy — reading.

That one decision — buying a bed solely based on price — ended up working against my values of meaningful work, freedom, and even wealth. Because I wasn’t asking myself how this purchase supports my life, my desires, or the kind of woman I want to be.

I was making choices from a mindset of lack instead of alignment.

And that’s what I want to invite you to reflect on:
How many decisions are you making from habit or fear, without checking in with your values?

From big things like your career or relationships, to small things like the bed you sleep in — your values should be the foundation for every decision. When you start living in alignment with what truly matters to you, you start to feel safe, energized, and abundant — in your body, in your home, and in your mind.

I was investing heavily… but not in what aligned with my values.
And that misalignment was draining me.

So, I want to ask you:

✨ What are your values?
✨ Are you living by them — or against them?
✨ Where is your time, money, and energy going… and is it building the life you truly want?

This blog post is your gentle reminder to come back home to yourself. To pause and realign with what actually matters to you.

Because when you start honoring your values, everything changes — your energy, your confidence, your finances, and your joy.
